john roberts-thomson

John is from Brisbane having studied a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biomedical Science at the University of Queensland. He has achieved first class honours at the Institute of Molecular Bioscience as well as having worked as a university tutor and administration officer in a hospital’s emergency department. Activities that he enjoys include, surfing and wakeboarding and enjoying warm weather at the beach.

John is a DDS3 student and hopes that his involvement as activities officer in the Melbourne Dental Student Society will enable him to bring together students to create a community that he himself has thoroughly enjoyed. A community of encouragement, support and friendship as we all strive to excel in our chosen profession.

Alinda Lee

Three words to describe Alinda are optimistic, enthusiastic and caring. Alinda is the BOH Activities Officer of the MDSS Committee this year, and currently a BOH2 student. Originally from Perth, she graduated from Penrhos College in 2015 and moved to Melbourne last year for studies. Moving to Melbourne alone was definitely a challenge at first, however Alinda met many amazing people throughout the year to make her feel welcome and at home. Therefore, if you are feeling homesick, or need any help/advise she is the girl to go to! Alinda strongly believes in a work-life balance to maintain a healthy holistic health.

Hence in her spare time, she will be out exploring different places to eat with friends, running with loud music playing in her ears, shopping, and watching movies (she is a sucker for romantic comedies). As a kid, she wanted to become a musician, but later realised you have to be good at it to be successful. So during her time in high school, Alinda found herself to have high interests in human anatomy then decided to become a doctor and pursue a career in the medical field. As one of the activities officers, Alinda and the MDSS Committee will make sure that 2017 is set to be a fantastic year fill with amazing events, new friendships, and new memories! Her message to you: “I can’t wait to meet all of you new BOH & DDS students! Remember to give me a wave or come say hi whenever you’re around. I am super approachable 🙂

Kalindu Rajamanthri

Born in Colombo Sri Lanka, Kalindu grew up loving the game of cricket and was fortunate enough to be selected for Under-15 Sri Lankan national team, a month before migrating to Australia. He continued his love of cricket by representing the state of Victoria at his age level, before choosing an academic pathway that lead him to Dentistry.

Venturing out and trying new things have always been few of the many affairs that Kal enjoys, and his time in dental school has been quite an exciting ride. Kal admits he would not be moving forward into third year without his wonderful friends, family as well as the camaraderie among cohorts of this great School of Dentistry. Thus, as an activities officer, Kal pledges on delivering events that strengthen this camaraderie between dental students while attempting to show each of them new realms of excitement.
