Hilarie is the ADSA rep for the MDSS Committee of 2017. Originally hailing from Calgary, Alberta, she moved across the country and graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario in 2014. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she was heavily involved in extracurricular activities on campus; this included volunteering as a swim instructor with Making Waves, an organization that offers private, affordable swimming lessons to low-income families with special needs children. She was also a voting member of the University Students’ Council as a Science Councillor, and an upper year mentor as part of the University of Western Ontario’s “soph” program.
Student advocacy is one of Hilarie’s passions and it’s what motivated her to become involved with ADSA. She attended the ADSA Convention in Melbourne last year and highly encourages attending as it is an opportunity to learn beyond the scope of dental school and foster friendships with future colleagues from across the country.
Other things that Hilarie is passionate about are eating, lifting, animal welfare, and good coffee
