Sharna Prasad is the Bachelor of Oral Health Social Representative of the Melbourne Dental Students Society and a current BOH 2 student. She was born and raised in Melbourne, with a Fijian/Indian background. Sharna strongly believes that oral health is a fundamental constituent of health. Oral health therapy is a somewhat new profession, which encompasses the existing two professions of a dental hygiene and a dental therapy and additionally places a major focus on oral health education. As the social representative, Sharna hopes to integrate the DDS and BOH cohorts through the MDSS activities and events held throughout the year.
Aside from dentistry, Sharna keeps herself busy with a number of hobbies and jobs. Sharna currently is working in a nursing home and a dental clinic as a dental assistant. Sharna also loves to volunteer, her most recent being in Cambodia with orphaned children. She has an interest in traveling, reading, hiking and dogs. Sharna is looking forward being apart of the MDSS in 2017 and hopes to make it a memorable year for everyone.
