Mayce was born in Baghdad, Iraq and moved to Canada with her family at the age of 2. Mayce grew up in Ontario Canada. She graduated from the University of Windsor in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in [Honours] Chemistry and a minor in Math & Spanish. During Mayce’s undergraduate university experience she found a passion in volunteering. This quote, anonymously stated: “Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer.” She was part of various groups from representing students on Science Society to orienting incoming students with Lead@UWindsor to organizing events to raise funds with Caring for Cambodia, and more. The various volunteer opportunities Mayce has been a part of has helped her develop the skills that will contribute to her becoming a successful dentist. Additionally her experience will aid in her position as the Events Officer for the Melbourne Dental Students’ Society. In 2013 & 2014 Mayce assisted her father as they went to Guatemala with the Open Wide Foundation to provide dental care for the less fortunate. This is where Mayce’s interest in dentistry first began. Furthermore, Mayce worked at a dental office for 3 years as a Clinical Coordinator. This experience built upon her interest in dentistry; coupled with her desire to choose a profession that helps people, she decided to pursue dentistry. Mayce is currently in her 3rd year of dental school at the University of Melbourne. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, travelling, and playing soccer. Mayce is looking forward to utilizing her skills and experience, working in conjunction with fellow committee members to organize fantastic events this coming year!
